Gino The Ghost is a 6x Grammy-winning, 14x platinum-certified songwriter, producer, and artist based in Los Angeles. Originally from Detroit, he has built a reputation as one of the most versatile and forward-thinking creatives working across modern music.

Gino first broke through with Saweetie’s hits “Back to the Streets” featuring Jhené Aiko and the viral smash “My Type,” before expanding his catalog across pop, Latin, and global music. In recent years, he helped shape the sound of Argentine trailblazers CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso, co-writing their debut albums Papota and Baño María. His work on Papota earned multiple Grammy wins, further cementing his place among today’s most in-demand songwriters.

His credits span artists including Ariana Grande, Lil Wayne, Sabrina Carpenter, Christina Aguilera, and more, alongside global work across Latin and K-Pop. Earlier in his career, he also contributed to projects like The Chainsmokers’ World War Joy and Nathy Peluso’s Calambre, both of which helped lead to Grammy recognition.

Outside the studio, Gino hosts the viral podcast Good Luck! with Gino, where he explores the intersection of music, tech, and culture through humor, storytelling, and sharp industry perspective.

In this conversation, Gino talks about patience in the early days, creative chemistry in global sessions, building a diversified career, and the mindset that keeps him moving forward.

When you were coming up and hadn't had a big cut yet, what habits helped you stay patient?

Being impatient with your input but patient with your output. When you love something, you have to work at it relentlessly, then trust the process that things don’t happen overnight. Otherwise, you’ll start to resent your work and yourself, and the work will start to feel like work without the payday. That’s why most people quit before they get the payday.

“PAPOTA” by Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso won “Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album” at the 2026 Grammys. There’s a beautiful irony in having a project that’s basically making fun of the music industry get such massive recognition. Describe the process of merging the signature Gino creative boldness with their desire to take risks. Was the chemistry instant, or was there a learning curve to combining such ambitious visions?

The chemistry was definitely instant. Everybody involved in that album, especially the boys (Ca7riel y Paco), are extremely bold risk-takers. We had so much fun writing that album, and seeing the ironic self-fulfilling prophecy come to life in real time was awesome. At the end of the day, if you aren’t having fun, what’s the point?

How has your Spanish learning journey influenced how you approach writing? What drew you to the culture?

I’ve always been a huge fan of Latin music and was brought into the world by my good friend, the legendary Fede Vindver, several years ago. It’s such an expressive culture. You can really have fun melodically and make certain choices you can’t make in American pop music.

Your K-Pop work is such a great balance of effortlessly cool and refreshingly unique. Is there anything you channel differently in those sessions?

Not really, to be honest. I just make whatever I think feels cool and different. Which is my approach for most records. But K-Pop is one of the only genres taking great pitch records right now. So you can really take swings creatively.

Congrats on your deal with Prescription! Had you known the team for a long time before it came together? Anything that is less spoken about that you recommend creatives look out for when negotiating a deal?

Thank you! I have a lot of friends signed over there and have heard nothing but good things from them over the years. I was a free agent for a while and as soon as we started working together in a trial capacity, big things started happening together. It was an easy decision. Best advice I would give other songwriters. Either sign for the bag or for the team. Whichever you need most in your life. Don’t settle for a deal or team that lands somewhere in the middle for both.

The pod is great. Has comedy always been a natural outlet for you? Did you have a specific idea of the tone you wanted the show to have, or did you discover it while building?

Yeah definitely. I’ve been a shit-talker my whole life and I love telling stories. I discovered the specific tone and style of the show by putting content out and seeing what reacted best, and what felt most natural to me. It’s a lot like music. You never know what style people are going to like from you. You just have to put shit out there and see what moves.

If you could put one sentence on a billboard for every young creative starting out, what would it say?

“Now make 100 more.”

You seem to be very diversified in your ways of generating income. How has that impacted your artistry and time management?

It’s been a blessing and a curse. The reality is the music industry is a brutal way to make a living, especially initially. I had no choice but to find other ways to build wealth for myself. Crypto changed my life for sure. I’ve always been interested in tech and the role it plays in culture, so that was a natural side hustle for me. Collectibles too. I’ve been collecting Pokémon cards since I was a kid and caught the market at the right time years ago when I went in heavy and bought a lot of grails.

When is a good day to be a Gino opp?

There has never been one good day on record to be an opp of mine, and the forecast is looking even worse, I fear.
